Save Your Lips This Winter With Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink Lip Balm

lip-drinkAs the cold weather sets in and the temperature begins to drop our lips often take a beating and become dry, chapped and inflamed.  Lip skin does not contain sebaceous glands so it is particularly susceptible to problems throughout the cold winter months.  To avoid problems with your lips, it’s important to keep them moisturized well throughout the entire day and night.  Some people make the mistake or have a habit of licking their lips.  This is a big no-no, as lip licking may feel good for a few moments, but actually causes the lips to become extremely dry and cracked.

Skin care experts agree that using a good quality lip moisturizer will help protect your lips during the harsh winter months.  Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink Lip Balm is colorless and contains no petroleum products that will dry out your lips.  The macadamia nut oil base will leave your lips feeling smooth and silky.  This good for your lips formula contains antioxidants of green tea extract and Vitamins C and E. As a bonus it contains SPF 15 for constant protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

You can find Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink Lip Balm with SPF and many other fantastic Jane Iredale products available at Skin Gift.

Acne Myths Debunked Part 2 Of 2

bioglycolicContinuing from Tuesday…

• Sun tanning will improve acne.  Lying in the sun will dry out the skin for a short period of time, but it won’t stop the oil production completely.  Ultraviolet rays are strong, but they will not penetrate deep enough into the pores of your skin to kill the bacteria that causes acne.  So it may feel like getting a tan is helping improve your acne, but it is an extremely short lived time frame.

• Using sunscreen causes acne breakouts.  Like people, not all sunscreens are alike.  Some formulas may be more irritating to your skin and some may clog your pores causing breakouts.  Using sunscreen is extremely important as it is the only way to protect your skin from the suns dangerous UVA and UVB rays. IS Clinical’s Treatment Sunscreen won’t clog your pores and provides the protection you need.

• Stress causes acne.  The verdict is still out on this one.  Some studies have shown that stress does affect acne production in some people.  To be safe and acne free, it’s important to eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and sleep well.  With any luck, living a healthy life style will help you remain acne free!

If you’ve been dealing with acne breakouts for what feels like forever or have a teen that has acne trouble, it’s time to call Skin Gift.  Our skin care consultants can help you choose the perfect acne products that will eliminate acne once and for all.  Contact Skin Gift to learn about the fantastic acne products by Obagi, IS Clinical and Jan Marini too.

Acne Myths Debunked Part 1 Of 2

sunscreenSome people are under the misconception that acne only occurs during the hormonally charged teen years, when in fact adults are subject to acne breakouts in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and sometimes even their 50’s.  In the early years, acne often presents itself with whiteheads and blackheads which can occur at any location on the face, forehead, nose, back, neck, and the back of the arms.  Adult acne typically looks different in that it often has reddish nodules around the mouth and jaw areas.  Regardless of when, where, or how it appears, acne lesions can be frustrating to deal with, no matter what age you are.

Acne myths are a confusing maze of information to muddle through for both teens and adults.  People often wonder what is causing their acne to appear and if they are personally making choices that will seal their acne fate.  Here are some of the common acne myths that you should be aware of…

• Eating chocolate will cause you to have acne.  This is one of the most common myths that have been around for what seems like forever!  Okay ladies, you can breathe a huge sigh of relief because there is NO concrete evidence that links our beloved chocolate to acne breakouts.  There is controversy as to the topic of what you eat and drink versus acne breakouts.  Some studies have linked milk products to acne, but drinking milk is essential to good bone health.

Please check back on Thursday for the conclusion.

Caring For Your Lips Will Keep Them Kissable!

pure-glossYou only have one set of lips so don’t forget to take good care of them.  Good lip care should always be part of your daily lip care regime.  Lip skin is very sensitive and tender with three to five cellular layers.  Not having any sebaceous glands, lips will dry out faster than other skin and become chapped more easily.  Additionally, as part of the aging process, lips tend to shrink and thin.

Here are a few tips to keep your lips looking young and healthy:

• Just like with other parts of your body, dry skin causes wrinkles, so it’s important to keep your lips well hydrated.

• Exfoliating dead skin will help generate new soft skin.

• Protect your lips from UVA/UVB rays by using lip balm with SPF.

• Natural remedies for your lips include: honey as a natural moisturizer, lemon to remove dark spots on your lips, and Vitamin E oil or almond oil to reduce lip lines and add moisture.

As we age, without proper lip care, the signs of aging will begin to show quickly upon your lips.  Having plump healthy pink lips will help take years off of your appearance.  Jane Iredale has many lip care products that will help keep your lips beautiful and healthy looking.  Stop by Skin Gift to check our Jane Iredale Lip Drink Lip Balm, Just Kissed – Lip Plumper, Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator, and Pure Gloss in a variety of beautiful shades.

The Truth About Skin Cancer, Part 2 Of 2

Continuing from Tuesday…

• Squamous cell carcinoma – is also considered a non-melonoma skin cancer.  People who have light colored skin or those who have been sun worshipers are likely to be afflicted by this type of cancer.  It is more common for men to have squamous cell carcinoma than women.  The most common reason for this type of cancer to occur is excessive sun exposure in younger years.  People often develop squamous cell carcinoma precancerous or cancerous lesions decades after the sun exposure has stopped.  Unlike basal cell carcinomas, this type of skin cancer can spread to other areas of the body, so proper diagnosis and treatment is crucial.

• Melanoma – is the most serious type of skin cancer because it is known to spread to other areas of the body, eventually causing death.  It is estimated that about 50,000 American’s are diagnosed with melanoma each year.  As with all types of suspected skin cancers, you should always seek medical help at the first sign of any lesion, rash, mole, etc.

It’s important to protect your skin from the suns harmful UVA and UVB rays every day of the year.  Wearing Jane Iredale Mineral Make-up provides excellent sun protection.  When venturing out for day of fun in the sun, don’t forget to protect your body with IS Clinical’s Tinted Sunscreen.  This broad-spectrum sunscreen will give you a splash of color and full protection from harmful rays.
