Ramp Up Your Personal Beauty With Our Tips
Want to ramp up your look? There are simple tricks makeup artists use to make their clients look dazzling on the red carpet or at a special event. Here are just a few we thought we would share today.
1) Use a concealer close to your natural skin tone. Use a concealer brush to paint over any blemishes, sun spots, etc. When using a concealer under your eyes, start with a color close to your foundation shade. Dot the concealer under your eye and blend with a brush. Then take a color one shade lighter and dot all around the outside corner of your eye. This pulls the eye upward and takes the focus off dark circles and puffiness.
2) Add a natural glow to your face. Use a makeup primer or illuminator under your makeup. Apply it in the center of the face and blend outward. This will add a youthful glow and put the spotlight on the center of your face.
3) After applying foundation, put translucent powder over the top to set your makeup and keep shine to a minimum. If you like a dewier look, use liquid foundation first. If you are oily or prefer a matte look use a pressed powder base.
4) Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Blend some blush over your forehead, bridge of your nose and temples for a natural glow. To look more youthful, apply a rose or mauve color and follow with a light coat of peach.
5) One of the hottest looks for eyes is the smoky eye. It’s very easy to do. First draw a thick line of pencil or liquid eyeliner along the upper lash line. Then, line the lower lash line all the way from the inner to outer corner. Smudge the liner with a cotton swab. Use a light color for shadow under the browline. Pick a dark shadow and sweep along the outer third of your eyelid. Take the same shadow and, using a detail brush, brush over your eyeliner on top and bottom. Smudge, smudge and you’re done! Keep your lips neutral or light to not look overdone.
6) To make your eyes really pop, put white eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye lid. To brighten and make the your eyes look bigger, line inside the lower rim with white liner.
7) To make your eyes look younger, concentrate mascara on top lashes. Use lightly on bottom lashes or skip it all together.
8) Before putting on lipstick, make sure your lips are ready. There are exfoliaters designed just for the lip area. Apply a hydrating balm to moisturize and keep lipstick from running past the lip line.
9) For full lips, line your lips just past the vermilion or lip line. Use lip liner to color in the entire lips. Apply lipstick with a brush and top it with a gloss. A lighter color in the center of lips also makes lips look fuller.
10) If you’re going out for the evening add a last dramatic touch. There are shimmery highlighter powders in colors like gold, silver, pink, etc. They can be applied to your brow bone, cheekbones, center of lips or all over the eyelid. Put some on a large fluffy brush and tap over your hair for an eye-catching touch. Mix them with body lotion for an all over glow.
