Puffy eyes and dark circles can make you look years older. There are different factors that cause these conditions in the eye area. Eye bags are inflammation caused by fluid build-up and toxins that pool due to slow lymphatic drainage. Dark circles can be from pigment or blood vessels that are visible through the thin under eye skin. Here are some tips to keep your eyes looking young:
1) Avoid excess drinking. Overindulging will make circles and lines stand out more. The eye area will often swell from the toxins collected there.
2) Cut down on caffeine and salt which will cause fluid retention.
3) Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and reduce puffiness.
4) You can use ice bags to reduce inflammation.
5) Apply a pink based concealer on top of under eye circles. Jane Iredale’s Circle/Delete Congealer is an excellent choice. It contains jojoba and avocado oil to nourish and antioxidants Vitamins A, C, D, and E.
6) Light reflectors can make wrinkles less noticeable. Jane Iredale’s Active Light Concealer contains light-reflecting particles. It also has ingredients like cucumber and white tea to reduce puffiness.
7) Try to sleep slightly elevated to drain fluid from around the eyes.
8) Use a day cream with light reflectors. Skin Medica’s TNS Illuminating Eye Cream has light reflectors as well as anti-aging ingredients. Their patented growth factors eliminate excess iron that cause dark circles. Peptides strengthen the delicate skin around the eye.
9) Vitamin K has been shown to repair blood vessels. Jan Marini’s Factor A Eyes contains Vitamin K to strengthen weak vessels which can show up as dark circles. The Retinolin this formula decreases lines and wrinkles while increasing collagen.
10) Get enough sleep- at least eight hours. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason!
